What will your lessons include?
-
Breathing
Before we even open our mouths to sing, we need to focus on our breathing.
We will begin each class by engaging in a variety of breathing exercises to increase breath control and to achieve sufficient breath support.
-
Vocal
You are not “stuck” with your current vocal range and abilities. There is a voice inside of you that is itching to come out!
Next, we will run through one or two dynamic vocal exercises to work on strengthening your voice and expanding your range. I will teach you all about your three different voices, and how to switch between them with fluidity and confidence.
-
Ear training
As vocalists, we are the only instrumentalists who can not see our instrument. Because of this, we require a good ear!
I will bring you through a series of ear training exercises which help strengthen the relationship between your ear and your voice which is essential for us singers.
-
Songs
This is the “FUN” part!
The last section of our lesson will involve working on whatever song you choose to work on until you feel you have mastered it and want to move onto the next one. I won’t make you learn Italian or sing songs that don’t inspire you.
Working on a song allows us to take the skills we are developing during the exercise portion of class and apply it to practical singing and music. After all, we can’t just sing “Maw maw maw” and “Vayyyyy” all day long!
